Out of performances such as “self stress relief” and “stress – no relief” comes the photo series “Stress – Relief”. It is a self-portrait series, in a pinup format, printed on bubble wrap. Through the bubbles a certain distortion is produced as well as a feeling of decay, because once a bubble has been popped it will never be whole again, the popped bubble that was smooth, tight and firm is a now creasy, wrinkly and sagging. The pictures are playing with the idea of beauty and aging or wither. We stress to keep up with the time. Time flies and we age with it. As we are carrying on stressing, we get older and in the end – time is up. Did we achieve what we wanted? exhibition: popart, a.i.p documentation. 07, Kassel, Germany |
